Krakow — one of the oldest and largest cities of Poland, lies in a southern part of the country, on the river Vistula, at bottom of the Vavel hill. Krakow traditionally is considered one of the leading scientific, cultural and art centres of Poland. Krakow throughout centuries was capital of Poland, here passed solemn crownings, weddings, burial places of kings, here there arrived ambassadors and foreign visitors from every corner of the globe. Today Krakow is also the large centre of local and international tourism. Its streets paved by a cobble-stone, majestic churches and charm of the ancient world give to visitors unforgettable impressions. The name of the city of Krakow is connected with its legendary founder — prince Krak. The name of this prince and his daughter Vanda names barrows VII and VIII centuries which are on suburbs of Krakow. The tradition building of barrows has remained in Krakow till XX century.

For the first time east merchant has mentioned Krakow in 965. Blossoming of the city has come after 997 when to Krakow there has arrived the prince Meshko  I. Kнязь has presented the Krakow earths to the son Boleslav, the future monarch who has lodged on Vavel — the Krakow hill on the bank of Vistula.

The centre of Krakow is the Main Market Square, second-large in Europe after Sacred Mark’s Square in Venice. The Krakow Market Square is a main market square of a city — one of the largest and fine in medieval Europe. The regular grid of streets of the Old Krakow here conducts. Their names remind about sacred, monks and kings. At Kazimire Great on the square have constructed cloth numbers — Sukennitse which in a XIX-th century are surrounded by arcade galleries. And so trading benches became the main ornament of the Krakow market. On the top floor there is an art gallery of the National museum of Krakow, inside it is a lot of little shops...

Among most considerable of hundreds Krakow historical buildings it is necessary to allocate the Royal castle and the Cathedral on the Vavel hill where till 1609 there was a residence of the Polish monarchs.

In Krakow traditions intertwine with the present almost continually, and each stone here is a history part. It is impossible to describe, or even to list all places of Krakow interesting to tourists, but each visitor finds own «magic» Krakow.
